302 Turbo?
Hey guys, im finally geting my hands on a 5.0! Its an 86 with a 1992 Cobra 5L in it, Ram air, Intake manifold, GT-40 Heads, short shifter, 2.5" Exhaust, and some other mods here and there. My question is, how many people here have Turbocharged their 302's? i was thinking of a TO3 from a Thunderbird, with an intercooler and bypass valve. What would i need to do to the Electronics system if i where to Turbo the car? What are some other common mods that you guys have done to you're 5.0's? I plan on doing a bit of a rebuild on the engine as well.

I had a t-73 on my old 88gt, really nice at only 8psi. Blow the doors off

a lot of people turbocharge their mustangs, its the new fad.

If you use T-bird turbochargers make sure you get them off of one with a 5 speed, they have a .60 A/R as apposed to the .48 which are a little small for the 302. I prefer .70 A/R myself.

you will need two svo turbos to make any power on the 302s. doesnt really take much buddy got two supercoupe ICs, 2 svo turbos and some 30#ders on a stock motor and made over 400rwhp and went mid 11s with alot of boost. that was till he got greedy and blew a gasket. look for him on www.turbomustangs.com as rob and his 91 yellow lx

yeah, i have a 89 5.0 and turbo is the next thing ill do. Personally i want twins(two t-3's) but i wouldnt go any smaller than a 70 on a single. the svo turbos just dont have enough kick for the 5.0. my dad has a none svo 4cyl. w/ a t-3, which was mine to start w/ but defentally to small.

.60-.65 a/r is perfect for a stock mustang mid-high power twin turbo setup.
Does anyone have a problem coming by the T-bird turbochargers? I found it kind of hard to come by them. |

thats why you run twin svos not a single

hi, yeah the t-bird turbos are not hard to find around here(mcalla,al)the guy i got my turbo from (which is a t-bird t-3)has about 10 or 12. i think i can get you an email if you want. and as for the any turbo5.0 will stomp anything on the street coment. my friend has a sr20 240sx that on 15psi will run pretty darn close w/ a turbo 5.0. im a all out mustang guy, but it will still run.
