Whirring noise coming from (I believe) the wheels..?
Hopefully I can explain this correctly..
I'm hearing somewhat of a "whirring" noise coming from my wheels (or at least that's where it seems to be coming from). It's especially noticible if I'm driving next to a median or with some other sort of physical structure alongside my car.
I thought originally that maybe it had something to do with the throwout bearing, which is causing my car to make (a different) whirring/squeaking noise when there's no pressure on the clutch--The noise goes away when I apply just a little pressure to the clutch--but this is being caused by something else (a worn/dry throwout bearing, likely).
Anyway, back to the whirring noise that appears to be coming from my wheels..
Another thought was that my rotors might be [slightly] warped. However, I don't feel any noticible vibration when I use my brakes, so I'm not sure that's it, either.
Any thoughts?
:\
Thanks,
-Jordan

RE: Whirring noise coming from (I believe) the wheels..?
I'm assuming it's on the driver's side, as I'm usually driving next to a median (with the median to my left), but it could feasibly be from the other side [as well].. Sorry, I'm not much help on that question. :|

does it feel any different my car mad a noise kinda like your descrbing and i thought it might be a wheel or axle bearing. on the highway it felt fine but you could notice a noise at low speeds in town and such around 20 mph you would feel something it turn out my tires were flat spotted

Tires flat spotted, eh? Explain?
I don't think I notice it on the highway, either, so I might have the same situation.. It's very noticible around town, driving 35-45mph..

According to this link, http://www.popularmechanics.com/how_...e/1833626.html , my situation sounds more like this:
Ticktickticktick
WHERE: Under the center of the car, toward the rear.
WHEN: While in motion and varying with road speed.
WHAT: U-joint (rwd or 4wd only). A U-joint in your driveshaft has finally run out of grease, is getting loose and is about to fail.
URGENCY: That's really just an urban legend about cars polevaulting over broken driveshafts when U-joints fail at speed, right?
FIX: Replace all the U-joints and keep the new ones greased regularly.
Now, that certainly doesn't mean that's the case, but it sounds more like that's my issue [than what they list for flat spotted tires].

I went for a test drive and it's fairly noticible at low speeds. It's especially noticible when driving with a median to my left. I'm not sure if it's on either "side" or if it's just under the car in general. I didn't hear it on the highway, but it would've been hard to hear much of anything, so..
I'm not really helping out much here..any ideas?
