depends on what total is and how many pounds of boost you are running, generally 28 -30 total is what some run on boosted applications but it's all subject to psi you run and if using pump gas that'll limit total you can run.....need more info from you to give an idea to start at.....generally start low and listen for detonation and up it slowly until you hear such then back it down.

do yourself a favor and get yourself a msd btm box. it will pull a set amount of timing per psi of boost. i assume your running either 91 or 93 octane. if so, set the base timing to 13*, and set the btm to pull 1* for every 1psi. make a pull, if you dont hear ping (and you shouldnt) you can set the btm to pull less timing

or just go to a dyno tuner and have a chip burned

fwiw, i run 32* total timing at 6000rpm and 5.5psi of boost. i have my pms set to pull .5* timing for every 1psi of boost. when i start increasing the boost pressure, my total timing will drop. if your not intercooled, your not going to want to run as much timing

just lookin for advise.. thought this site was for that reason??? i can set the timing, and have it at 8* initial now but it still gives me almost 38* total and it seems a bit high to me... hence the question initial or total... not quite sure how the eec-iv works, never had a system that would add 30* or more of timing from the initial setting.. boost is set at 8psi now, and am running an intercooler, with pump gas.. 306ci, 9.0cr, turbonetics t-76 b-bearing .96 a/r, comp xe274 installed straight up, ported '93 cobra heads 1.9/1.5 valves, rpm intake, 42# injectors, auto w/3500 conv, 3.27 gears.. bout all the info i can give.. can you hook a BTM to the factory distributor??

not trying to bash or anything, just saying man.

sound's like you have a real nice setup.

youll want to upgrade your ignition system, and like lucky13 said, you can adjust it at a much higher level then with the stock stuff.

good luck.

i understand where you're coming from.., but i've posted on several sites and it seems that alot of people are quicker to insult a person for what they think they dont know than give the advise they are askin for and it can get a little frustrating.... i installed a FAST XFI system on my 88mm '01 camaro and i absolutely love it.. but i dont want to spend another $2000k on one for the mustang. would the tweecer system work well for what i'm doin?? or should i just get a new dist. and run the msd 6btm and call it good???
