Power loss
just need some opinions on what could be wrong before i jump in..
i have a 94 gt starts and runs fine.. untill around 4200rpm car just feels like im bouncing off a rev limiter.. and its only when im WOT or close to it.. but if i just put it in 2nd and half throttle it all the way up to 5500 it runs fine.. just when i get close to WOT..
i was thinking plugs & wires..?
any information would be helpful..

RE: Power loss
unless you have a portable occiliscope it'll be hard to isolate the break down at wot but I'd venture to say it's one component affecting the entire system like a coil...with an occiliscope you can watch the kv/firing voltage accross the board and the parade pattern of each individual cylinder to determine which cylinder is breaking down and where.....otherwise be a parts slapper!![&:]

RE: Power loss
well i just recently.. started hearing a whining noise.. so i used a stethascope on all the pulleys .. but i really sounds like its coming from the back. of the car .. but its rpm related not speed.. when fuel pumps go bad.. do they start making funny noises..?

RE: Power loss
Basically, replace all the "Tune Up" Parts in your motor (plugs, wires, cap and rotor, coil, and pickup coil) And get a new fuel filter and make sure your cats are not clogged. Itll be about 150 to replace all those parts but keep in mind your running with parts 12-18 years old.
As far as it being a dirty MAF or even O2 sensor this is probably not the case but it would not hurt to clean either. The maf if it is experienceing problems will most likely show them at points where the throttle is not open as there is very little air to read vs. a lot of air. The winining noise i wouldent be concerned about, keep up on your fluids, check your tranny fluid and go.

RE: Power loss
Sounds like the fuel filter. If your pump is making some out of the ordinary noises also, it could be that. So start with the fuel filter and go ahead and clean your MAF if it's never been done before. You'll notice the difference between the two.
