We replaced those a few months back, although that doesn't kill off the possibility that they could possibly not be functioning correctly. My car's not throwing any codes, but is there some other way I can check to see how rich/lean the computer says my mix is?

bad fuel delivery and/or weak ignition components are a more major role in fuel economy.
rich/lean you could feel, and/or smell.

plugs - autolite #25
wires - frpp 9mm
cap & rotor - anything with brass terminals instead of aluminum
fuel filter - anything
get a spray can of MAS Sensor Cleaner

if that doesn't get the milage up, i'd have someone check the output of the coil

I swapped out AP25's and grabbed some 25's (copper), and I've got Motorcraft plug wires (WR-4017-C), but I think I got the wrong damn set. These are coming up online for the 84-93 302, not the 94-95. Grr.

I already sprayed the MAS, and I've got a fuel filter (and synthetic fluids, for an oil change)..I'll go get the cap & rotor.

Yeah if all of that doesnt help, i would invest in a 2.3 swap haha

Dont forget to clean up the inside of the throttle body!

No way I would ever even consider switching to a 4-banger over my 5.0, regardless of gas mileage, power, or anything.

I'm obviously not too concerned with mileage, as I bought a 2001 Expedition Eddie Bauer (2WD), which gets about 11mpg in town, back in December.. I was just curious more because of a) considerations of advancing my timing and b) because I distinctly remembered getting much better gas mileage a while back.

It's not going to kill me if I never get more than 14mpg again, I was more just wondering than anything.

No one buys a 5.0 then worries about gas milage If that's a concern buy a volkswagen diesel tdi and you'll never wine again!!!!trust me I know I get about 45-47 mpg so the 5.0 for me now is a weekend driver

lmao.. like I said, I'm not worried about gas mileage (not to the extent of 'OMG, I have to sell this car if I can't get better than 14mpg!!!!'), nor do I expect to get some insanely good mileage out of my 5.0. It just seems weird to me that it's dropped off by about 20-25% from what I was getting before. Remember, I said I bought an '01 Expedition last December, so even at 14mpg, the Mustang gets significantly better gas mileage..heh.

Luckily, I drive less than 10 miles per day (closer to 5, in fact), but even so.. :P
