Default balancer

ok so im about to go get lunch and i start my car and i theres a horrible vibration and noise. i popped the hood and the rubber was shooting everywhere, and the balancer was flopping around. i have to replace it in the parking lot at work. whats the tools i will need? for the crank bolt can i just put the trans in gear or will i need an impact gun? this suck i just got it running great too.

do i need to reset the timing since the balancer broke or timing shouldnt have been affected?

You should not have to do anything with your timing, it would not hurt to re-check it just in case the balancer had moved some. I am nnot sure what size bolt is on the balancer, you could use a breaker bar or 1/2 drive rachet. You may want to see if there is any electrical for a compressor.

Put the car in gear, leave hte belt on, and have someone hold the brake pedal. You can brake it loose that way. You will need a breaker bar (1/2") and a 15/16" socket. As for the pulley bolts, they vary depending on wether or not you have ud pullies or not. You will also need a balancer puller and it socket for it.

ok cool yea i got my friend taking care of getting the part and puller and all while im at work still. good idea about the belt didnt think of leaving it on. you guys are great on here. thank you. and if anyone that works at autozone sees this - IF YOU DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR JOB THEN QUIT.all the parts stores in nj the ppl are f'in retarts.
