AFR 165's
58cc chamber
1.6 rockers - stud mount.
I agree.Thats what i would go with.Imo stud mount is way easier to adjust. As for the cam its already in there, iwould leave it alone.

Yeah AFR 165's. I prefer the TFS Stage 1 cam too, but if the E-303 is in there already, the 2 cams have such a similar profile its just not worth swapping them out.

I keep hearing this but I didn't have to adjust my pedestal rockers at all.

I'm running the 165 with pedestal mount. All I needed were longer pushrods(I changed everything but the block so that was bound to happen). 165's are great for a street 302. 185's would be better for a stroker or a blown application, or something with a big cam. 165's even n/a are capable of putting outvery goodpower from a 302

If you have the stock 86 pistons be carefull on the cam you choose. They dont have notches in them for the valves.
I am thinking of adding theAFR 165s or 185's to my 89 LX. Will I havepiston clearance issues on my 89???

Depends on the cam. The 165's shouldnt, the 185's might have problems. The problem with '86 pistons is that they dont have valve reliefs.

you might have a piston clearance problem with the afr 185's. read the thread above. i'veheard ofpeople running the 2.02 heads and didn't have any problems with stock piston clearance. the only 2.02 head that was made to run withoutnotching the pistonis the twisted and wedge head. i believe thats what made them so popular on the stock 302 motor. however, if you don't want any problems stick with the afr 165's. they are one of the best out the box heads.
