RE: DOG BONE? for 351w?
see the piece that holds two lifters together in pairs? then the "spider" or "fingers" that is sheet metal with the bolt in it, it holds all the "dogbones" in place.
if your going to go this route, and your block is a non-roller you'll need to drill and tap the holes for those small bolts. If you dont want to go that route, you can get retrofit lifters that dont need the dogbones and the spider. they look like this:

Keep it a non-roller and get a healthy cam. The link bar lifters are around $500. Don't believe the myth about having to adjust lash all the time. Thirty years ago, you may have had to do it more often, but now better parts are made, i adjust mine 1-2 times per year, and i dont think it needs it that often. And if you keep it carb, they are so easy to get to. If you are fi you have to move more **** out of the way.

If you use the retro-fit kit with the dog bones and spider in a 351w, you will be limited to reduced base circle Hyd. roller cams.[:'(]
The linked lifters are pricey, but they also allow you tou install the "regular" base circle HR cams.....just a thought.
