I got thumper to port my gt40p heads, he does an awsome job. I am not sure about his packages but his porting work is first rate and he is a really good guy to deal with

my hci is not "the best" but it gave me the hp in my sig. its a VERY basic set up and im very happy with it. i know of a guy that has edelbrock performer heads and a tfs II cam and he only makes 271 tuned....but runs 12.7s.
for what i have, i dont think it would even cost you a grand. gt40 heads unported have a little lower compression so take that 800 left over and save for a sc and boost it to 5lbs!

would it be worth the 175 having him add gt40 valves?

In my opinion a good budget H/C/I setup would be Thumper ported GT40p's with SS valves and a Crane rocker arm stud conversion, Scorpion roller rockers, TFS stage 1 cam, and a good used intake ( i.e. Eddy, Trick flow, Holley, etc.) or a new Typhoon.

wow, alot of good info on this thread- thanks guys! is it possible to mill the gt40 heads to regain some compression? or does it screw up the port and bolt alignment for the intake?

gt40ps, comp xe270-14 cam, and trickflow intake. I make power from 1800-5900 rpm and cost is very cheap. Around $1000, cheaper if you get the intake and cam used.
