Default compression

i checked the compression on the four left cylenders today and wow
i got around 115psi on all four....i then poured a tablespoon of oil in one of them and the compression came up to around 160psi.....so my rings are worn [:@].....can the compression be that low...i dont burn excesive oil or anything

What was the compression on the other side? I forget the exact % but if they are all within maybe 25% of each other it should be fine for now.But yes that is the sign of worn rings.Anytime you add oil and the compression goes up the rings are worn.Sorry man.

you could have other things wrong not just rings. could be yoru valves are hanging up and not closing all the way so your getting alow reading..........just dont worry to it blows up 302s are soldiers ride it out

Correct me if im wrong but jumping 45 PSI with putting oil in the cylinders is the rings.If a valve was hanging open then the compression wouldn't change by putting oil in the cylinder.I may be wrong but have seen it like that for atleast 10 years maybe I was tought wrong.

you have excess amt. of wear on the compression rings....just drive it....and use 10w40
