Im buying a mustang. 351W in it.

Get the RPMs to about 2500 or higher and it shakes alot...does that mean the fly wheel needs to be balanced?

and the trans slips alot what causes that? torqe converter?

tranny probably needs to be rebuild... shaking could be due to the craptastic tranny

check the harmonic balancer for any wobbling too

I dont think its the tranny causing the shake because it shakes while in park to as long as u get the RPMs up...

Whats the average cost to rebuild a C4?

I might swap to a T5...Unless theres a better trans...I dont really have a preferance on auto or manual...The clutch pedel is already there so thats not an issue...

The shaking could be anything but obviously a moving part ie the crank, flywheel, balancer etc. Stick w/ the c4

351 with a T5 = Broken gears...

Trans slipping could be just fluid and filter.

Shaking at 2500 RPM. How does it run at idle. Out of balance motors usually will show up across the board but be worse a certain RPM's.
Pull the belts. and see it the shake changes any.
See if it has a cylinder that is loosing spark. Run up to the shake and shut it off. Pull the plugs and look at them.
Check the compression. 2 ways pull the plugs and check it dry and then put a couple of drops of oil in the spark plug holes and check it again. Dry first then wet. How much does it change. What is the percentage difference from lowest to highest dry.

It could be a simple as a misfire and a broken mount, or a bad fuel delivery system.

I'd stay with the C-4 if I were you. They cost a bunch less to build than an AOD or anything.
C-4 been around since the mid '60's so the parts don't cost that much.........

What you should do is rip that c6 out of the bronco and throw that in. Problem solved. But Im guessing that your like me with my bronco so stick with the c4. The vibration might be the harmonic balancer falling apart like most do.

Two problems with that. The bronco im parting out i already sold the C6 and im not ripping my C6 out of mine...and another problem is that that C6 has the big block bolt pattern....
