Default 1976 Mach 1

Hey I recently got a 1976 Mach 1 and would like to know what fairly simple and inexpensive cheap upgrades I can get off the bat. I dont want a race car, just would like a little more speed. Thanks.

A four barrell intake & carb, headers and a decent exhaust system will make a huge improvement over what you have now. You should be able to do all that for under a grand.

Intake, headers etc. Light car with a 302. If it has a 7.5 rear you could pick up some gears too. 4spd? Or is it the SROD?

They didnt make Mach 1's in 76 so you better make sure that you didnt get hosed by a salesman so check your year! If its a mustang II, Head Cam and 4bbl intake and possibly look into a better bottom end/pistons

The Mach 1 continued into 78 with the Mustang II before it dropped. Not very popular though. I didn't think it was in production that long myself.
PRODUCTION NUMBERS
Hardtop - 78,508
Hatchback - 62,312
Hardtop Ghia - 37,515
Hatchback Mach 1 - 9,232
TOTAL - 187,567

That is right. Those cars were smogged down, they couldn't hardly breath.
