Default AODE transmissions

so i have a 92 mustang, just got 4.30 gears so i want to stick with an overdrive gear to keep the gas millage decent. In the future it will have an all moter stroker and possibly some nitrouse. The main goal is for drag racing, so i want a manual. How far can i take the AODE in the car right now (if it is fully built up with stronger bands and all the good stuff)aka hp/torque. also what would be a good company to go through for a line lock? thanks guys

AOD-E was not used in the Mustang until 94. You can put one in or go with a 4R70-W which is stronger than the E and has a taller 1st gear. Either way you will need a Trans controller of some sort or a full manual valve body. I havea 4R70-Win my 89 vert with a PI converter and a Baumannator TCS and I couldn't be happier. It only took me three AOD's to figure out I needed to upgrade...

a 96+ to something v6 stang 4R70W should bolt right up, you just need to change the wiring some and a tune is needed.

or if you have an aode already, which isnt stock until 1994, a few upgrades can be made to hold alot of power.
what would prob. be a good idea, if you plan to race it alot, which you said dragging, go get some 3.73's or 4.10's and put a built c4 in that thing, it will be a little cheaper, and can hold a few more ponies, but either way a auto tranny will cost you a few pennies. a full man valvebody, custom stall, and a c4 would be very nice. you can also go man VB and high stall on the aode.

Thats an Oxymoron

Your car has an aod unless they put a 94-95 trans in it
