Aluminum driveshaft U joints
Are the U joints for an aluminum driveshaft (not stock on this car) supposed to be different than regular driveshaft U joints?
I was changing the U joints tonight and put new ones in but they moved around too much.
I took them out and held them up to the old U joints and the new ones were smaller.
I looked up the part # for U joints for a '92 LX with an AOD and the # matched the parts I had.
How do I find the right U joints for the aluminum driveshaft?

RE: Aluminum driveshaft U joints
I was told by a shop that the aluminum driveshafts have a little bit larger u-joints than the stocker, so they are a stronger and last longer. Is it a FRPP aluminum driveshaft or some other brand?

Its a 1330 u joint. I believe it is bigger then stock.
Precision U joint part # 354, I can get the same ones from the part store though for half the price they are on summit racing.

I went to NAPA tonight and they looked at me like I had three heads when I said I needed a 1330 style U joint.

So any parts store brand U joints for a 5 speed work?
Where are you guys getting the part numbers from? When I went to Napa they typed in 1330 and the computer came up with an oil filter.

RE: Aluminum driveshaft U joints
I get my parts from westminster auto parts which obviously isn't around you. If a 5 speed uses a 1330 u joint then any 5 speed u joints should work. If your drag racing I'd get heavy duty ones if you can. I have to replace my precision u joints after about 25 passes because they start to develop play.
