Default Signs of a bad intake manifold gasket?

Just curious if anyone knows definite signs of a bad lower intake manifold gasket? I know it could possibly be rings or valve guides/ seals but 6 out of 8 of my spark plugs are wet with oil on the threads. The motor probably consumes about a quart of oil every 1200miles. It's supposodly a gt40 h/c setup with a tfs1 cam. reason i ask about the intake manifold gaskets is when I come to a stop and push in the clutch the rpms drop like normal but go to like 500 and then surge to 800 and finally stabilize. Someoen told me if it was bad it could cause oil from the lifter valley to get sucked into the intake and then go through the motor. The motor only smokes blue oil idling for a while when it's really hot. Thanks

Possible BUT not likely........for the surge problem I'd check for vaccum leaks and for the oil consumption ...make sure the valve covers aren't leaking down on everything else...and you could have bad valve seals and or worn rings if there is alot of miles on the car

thats the thing the motor supposodly has about 10k miles on it. I'll never buy something someone built again seemed like a good deal at the the time with the new transmission and rear end. The dumbass who built it ran it untuned with a 16:1 afr for lie 3k miles

Wow.. just.. wow.. 16:1 in a any car.. especally one with an hci swap.... how the hell did that think make it 3k miles that lean? Sounds like your rings are really worn. Are you getting much blow blowby right now? How does the oil look after just a couple of hours?

If I were you, I would get a leakdown down and see what the compression on all cylanders are, then go from there. Are you getting a ton of blowby? I would be worried about rings and valveseals first.... then the condition of the internals. Thats seriously unhealthy.. I would address it now before you have a basketcase of a car in the near future.

Well i got it tuned safely probably 4000 miles ago i got the car with probably 102k miles. 13:1 AFR the motor made decent power 268rwhp 296 rwtq but could probably be better with no blowby. I can only really see smoke when its hot and idling. I'm probably getting rid of the car this friday and never buying a car with mods done to it again. Do you mean color of the oil or how much it's used after a couple of hours? Oil pressure isn't exactly what it should be for a new motor but its at 20psi at 750rpms and 50 at 2000 rpms.
