Not 5.0 but tech related.
ok guys my girlfriends dads volvo just broke down and im having a problem troubleshooting the problem. i know its not a 5.0 but i trust you ****'s.
anyways the car is refusing to start up unless you have your foot to thefloor and let it crank for about 10 seconds then it will start (sometimes) andidle but very rough and start blowing black smoke for a littlebit then idle a little better but still rough then die. it has spark and compression and jsut got a tune up. yet the car keeps fouling the plugs black so obviously its running rich but it still has spark and im stumped. [:@]. i tried to pull codes but its not giving me anything except something about the brakes. (also just got a new coil too)

Or some seriously leaky injectors. Get a fuel pressure gauge and put it on the rail... Turn the key on, wait for the pump to stop running, and turn the key off. If the pressure bleeds down quickly (less than an hour or so) then either the fuel pressure regulator or injectors are leaking.

most definitly a fuel related issue... holding the pedal to the floor will put the engine into "flood clear mode" in which the car's injectors will not fire.
doing so will get new, fresh air into the cylinders, mix witht he gas thats already in there and help clear it out.. Check the FPR like Mattdel has suggested, make sure there is no fuel coming out through the vac line. It could have a blown diaphram. Other than that.. I would suspest a cracked, broken, or leaky injector
