Default Lost clutch adjustment.

93 Mustang, 5 spd.
The present set up is only about 1 year old. 95% normal driving.
It has heavy duty pressure plate, firewall adjuster, aluminum quadrant and long tube headers.

Could not disengage clutch disc with pedal to the floor.
Remove cable/fork cover and found the nut about 5/8" from the fork. I used to run it fairly snug.

Disconnect cable from the quadrant and pulled it out of the sheathing from under the car. This exposes about 5" of cable. No signs of header burning through or anything wrong with the cable.

Connect it all back up. Adjust the nuts on the cable all the way to the end of the thread. I can now disengage the clutch but why is the cable suddenly slack?

Default RE: Lost clutch adjustment.

It streched out. My cable just did that and I just adjusted it up and it was good.

Default RE: Lost clutch adjustment.

Did yours stretch out over a period of time or suddenly?
Mine went from perfectly ok. I could go from 1/2 pedal to the floor and the clutch would be disengaged.

To suddenly pedal to the floor and the clutch is fully engaged.

Even since I adjusted it up. I'm now out of thread and I need to bury the pedal into the carpet to disengage the clutch.
