I have a '92 lx 5.0 with power windows. The driver side window roller has decided to stop working. I changed out the fuse but it still won't roll up. If I have the engine running and push the window button to move the window up it will not go up but I see that something is trying to happen because the ammeter gets dragged down but nothing happens with the window. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the solution they came up with? Thanks in advance.

It sound like its the dowels in the motor gear. it the window motor theres a big gear i think its like 45 spline and there is 3 dowels inside of it that hold the other gear that is like 8 spline from coming out and moving on its own. I know for a fact that those dowels crush into a million pieces and then it just stops doing its function but autozone sells the whole kit i think its called window motor lift gear kit. That should fix it unless the actual motor just quit.

Thank you so much for your reply. I would be willing to bet that that is what it is. Now, how do I get to this in the door? I've taken off the door cover but could not really see anything inside and did not really have alot of time to deal with it at the time, new baby, so can you tell me the exact steps that you went through to do this fix? Again, thanks in advance.

or try this take off the door panel, hit the motor with a MFH and try the up button again
