Default shimming a starter?

i have a 93 mustang with a t-5 in it. i was having problems with my starter engaging the teeth on my flywheel. i was wondering if there was a way to shim the starter to make it closer to the flywheel. if its possible how do i do it?

they do make shims that go between the starter and the bellhousing to move it out further, but i doubt thats really your problem. i had a similar problem with mine, 1st try changing the starter if that fixes it sweet if not id say theres something wrong with your flywheel. I changed my starter 1st and i had the same prob about a week later starter not engaging right, i ended up changing the flywheel solved my problem

Good luck

make sure you have the block plate in there behind the flywheel. if its there between the trans bellhousing and block then there shouldnt be any problem.
