Default Full Throttle

On History channel, they do this thing where two groups of builders will modify two cars, often the same car or two main rivals, and then drag race them at the end of the show to see who keeps both cars. The most recent one was of the Buick Grand National Turbo. Now, I'm pretty sure they are really fast cars, but for some odd reason, after they modified theirs, the fuel injected them, put a MSD racing ignition in them, brand new higher performance turbocharger with new intercooler, new higher flow exhausts, and a new higher performance transmission, their runs were horrible.

Literally, after all of those modifications, their BEST time was like 14.6s @ 95mph or something like that in the quarter mile.

Here I thought the Grand National can do 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and the quarter mile in like 12 seconds or better. How the hell did they manage to make fast cars like that into slower cars? Hornet, any ideas?

My first idea was that they went way too large of a diameter in the exhausts and just killed their low-end torque. Every car has an optimal exhaust diameter where you get the best horsepower benefit without losing any low-end torque, maybe they didn't follow this? But could it really kill them THAT bad?

I didn't see if but that might have done them in or they could have figured something wrong.I used to work with a guy in Palm Beach that had a 10 Sec Grand National. He had like a 3 1/2 inch exhaust on there. He had the car custom built.

V6 TWIN TURBO
Only the GN model was a twin screw, the regular one had one turbo.

Ooohhhh, I didn't think about the size of the turbo, that makes a lot of sense, they should have stuck a smaller one on to have a better low-end...

Either way, those people suck, lol.
