Default oil ring issues

alright here what happened i got a 302 out of a 88 lincon mark 7 vin-1lnbm92e6jy735378 and heres the deal i went to advaced to pick up some piston rings and when i got home the lower oil ring was much thiner than the replacement so much so that it would not fit onto the piston i tryed going up and down a few years and they are all the same part number! so my question is when/why did for use a slightly thiner oil ring? thanks for any help

they could be aftermarket pistons... what do they look like? fly cut? dished? recessed? domed? flat top?

ok if they say ford of them, then their obviously ford pistons, lol


try to look up rings for that piston itself

whats teh problem? diameter to small? or height?

i guess you would call it the height the spacer in betwwen the two thin oil rings is so wide it wont seat in the ring land

hm... thats interesting... have you checked online at summit or anything... maybe two diff part #s will come up, and thers some kind of differance

where did you buy the rings from? advanced auto parts... thats could be the problem right there... around here all our parts store guys are retards, theyve given my various wrong parts
