you dont need a list, if you've done head gaskets before, it means youre not a complete idiot. Use you eyes and just look to see whats bolted to the head and take it off. Then remove the head (use proper detorquing pattern) and repalce the gasket. I also suggest the gt40 heads they come off 5.0L explorers and will add 35-40 hp to ur pony over stock heads. Also if you have the cash use the 5.0L explorer intake too and ull gain a solid 50 hp total id say.

RE: 5.0 leaking water below the headers
well, its not the head gasket leaking..its the freezer plug.
i was looking in the wrong area when i last checked..
i'm 100% sure its the freezer plug. its right underneath the 2nd pipe coming out of the headers on the drivers side.
so how do i fix this? i'll have the header pipes off tomorrow..so i'll have easy access to that area.
i need to know if i have to still take the engine appart? is it a plug that unscrews and i screw a new one in? thanks for any help.

i did a search and found this below.. is this right? do i need special tools? knocking the plug out sounds easy. and i just tap the new one in right? autozone has freeze plugs so i'll get one tomorrow.
Replacing a freeze plug is difficult sometimes even on the ones that are easy to get to. There are special tool kits to drive them in, or you can make something, I guess. To get them out, drive them sideways(I usually use a 1/2" drive extension, etc) and pull it out with pliers.
On the ones that are hard to get to, it is just a matter of removing necessary parts to gain access to the plug enough to change it. There is nothing wrong with replacing them one by one, unless you really want to change them all. Good Luck! Shaun.

Freeze plugs tap in, get a screw driver, a hammer and a freeze plug install kit or a socket that is the same size as the freeze plug. Knock the hell out of the old on on any side and it will turn sideways, pull it out and put the new one in by lightly tapping it in place with the socket.
