Shifted K member= Bad trans shift?!?!
I Bought a 92 mustang a few months ago with some damage. it needed a fender and a d/s door. i put those on and it looked fine. it also had a trans porblem where it didnt have first (t-5) so i just figured i would take it out and rebuild or get differnt one. I took it apart and the gear was there so i looked at my fork and it was bent and grinded away. I put the trans back together and put it back on the car. I had first gear now, but only when i put it in gear b4 i start the car, orgoing 2-5 mph. so now im thinking i got a clutch prob, i got a new cable and it has a newer clutch. i thought it was a shift fork but i never changed it because i ran out of time and left for college. When i was doing the trans job i noticed that my k member was shifted back 7/8ths of an inch on the d/s. i thought the car was junk then but i figured i cant go wrong i paid 500$. The other day my dad took the car to get the k member pulled and alighned. When he picked it up, he could start in first and the trans shifted perfectly now. This makes no sense to me other that their could have been presure on one of the input/ output shafts. If anyone has and ideas i would love to hear them b/c i am really curious.
Thanks!
Thanks!
