i dont know anything about if theyre forged or not.. the reason everying is saying to get new is because ur taking 19 yr old pieces and ur putting them into a cleaned up engine. they have been through 19 yrs of abuse there could be tiny tiny stress cracks, and if your planning to put some n2o on there ull be at a much higher risk of blowin it then with fresh new pistons. believe me im in the same boat as are many other ppl with they money issue. if its not ur d/d then hold off and get the pistons. ull thank yourself later on.

I do know that the metric rings are WAY more expensive than the standard ones' like twice as much............
I also vote to go new pistons.
Mainly becuase what you have could be considered 'used up' 10 years ago..
You can get lower priced pistons like speed-pro for not much over $200.
I'm not surprised however at what the machine shop found on your bores......

yah no kidding with the rings i just spent like 95$ bucks on a set of premium rings from advanced auto. that sounds like alot but napa wanted like 120 for the same exact part number! i desided to take your advise even though its gonna take at least another 3 weeks to finish this motor i found speed pro has a set of forged pistons that will use my metric rings for just under 400$ witch is the cheapest pistons i could find.part number trw-l2488f from summit can anyone tell me about what compression i will get with these pistons. thanks for making me doubt my parts integrity to the point that i need new pistons[:@]but i guess id rather spend the $$ now rather than mess up a fresh motor!

Thats the exact same pistons I just put in my 302 that I recently finished building. Be prepared to pay for a balance job.
