Default damn ford!

well heres what i found out i have a 1988 5.0 ho motor out of a lincoln mark 7 and just found out that ford used two different pistons that year a standard set witch is most common and a metric set witch has a smaller 4mm oil ring my question is are the metric pistons still forged like the standard ones? this really pisses me of cause half the damn thing is standard and half is metric[sm=headbang.gif]

just buy some forged pistons. I'm sure your not planning on boosting or running juice on an 88 non-rebuilt. So why do you care what it has now?

it is being rebuilt (rering, berrings, gaskits, oil pump, tf stage 1 cam, rpm airgap manifold and street avenger carb) the motor only had 67,xxx miles on it so i just honed the cylinders and i am planing on runing a 100 shot and new pistons are not in the budget so i need to know if the stockers are forged

your joking right?

You probably have 200k on that motor, your going tohave to go at least 10 over. And if you don't seriously think you need to do that on a 19 year old motor, hey it's your money.

and yes I understand you "think" that motor has 67000 miles

alright bud i didnt post here to start a pissing match with you i just want to know if the metric pistons are forged and i pulled the motor for the car and stripped it down myself no ridge on the cylinders no scratches and i sent it out for a hot tank and cam berrings and my machinist did a check on cylinder taper and out of round and its fine i used a bottle brush hone to take the glaze off the cylinder walls so the rings will break in better and i have the crank and cam installed so as for the millage theory and 10 over thing im way past that point and dont see a reason to buy the same pistons i already have.

seriously no pissing about it, if youve budgeted all those parts throw another $200-300 for some pistons youll be much happier in the long run. but like the other guy said its your money.
