Well one big draw back is that cam.... The cam in the 83 is small,may want to look into that... I dont like the 83 carb.. I would recommend a holley 600 double pumper ( i went with a 650 and am over carb'd and now i need to have it jetted)... The exhaust is a no brainer (get the air in and get the air out)... I would also deffinetly then get a new intake manifold.... I would also think, if you are on a budget, get some E7 heads off a newer stang and bolt those up (good 20-30 hp to gain there for a stock to stock change)... I would also get a short throw and then gears..... I would say some 4.10s others prefer different... This is just my 2 cents....
