89 LX 5.0; ran out of gas - only 14.2 gals?
I ran out fo gas the other day, in the parking lot of the gas station thank god. A nice person help me push it 20'. Anyway, when I filled it up, only 14.2 gallons went in even after topping it off. The book says 15.5 gallons. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

its possible that the venting is somehow clogged or kinked and you have an air pocket in the tank, but i'd lean more towards maybe sediment or some other dirt or something being in there.

Just throwing it out there, but it could be an example of a gas station having inaccurate pumps. Just recently a station near my house got caught by the Weights and Measures Division (I forget their complete title) for having inaccurate equipment. All the pumps got shutdown and stickered.

If scale's were off, i doubt they would tip to the consumer's favor.
To the OP, change your fuel filter every few thousand mile's to keep that crap out of your system.
