RE: anyone use a c6?
why waste time with the c-6...they were mainly used behind big block cars and or 351 equipped cars or trucks and are bulkier and take up more space... a properly equiped c-4 is the way to do or performance oriented AOD.... why give up your over drive..you;ll wish you hadn't in the long run... I just finished not to long ago a t-5 swap into my 66 mustang that had a 4 speed with 3.50 gears and let me tell you having a 5th gear/overdrive now makes a world of difference..I wouldn't go back for the world to a 4 speed or non overdrive trans!!!!

A c-6 is just much big and heavier then a c-4 and can take more HP but why worry with it until you would out grow a built C-4 that can take alot more HP then a stock block can take. But they will fit with out any problems. now if its a big block you will need ABFH to make it fit but they do.

well, the reason I'm even asking is becuase I found a helluva deal on a c6 with stall, and i'm going to need a good tranny for about 550hp.
is the gear ratios way different from a c4 to a c6?

RE: anyone use a c6?
im putting 400hp and 440 tq to my c6 maybe a lil more, and it was crying for its mommy with the old 250 hp engine (needs a rebuild) but it holds the power fine, just make a whining sound. So what im getting at is a stock c6 thats in good shape will hold 500hp and 500 tq, those are the actual specs. So id say a stock c6 will hold 550hp just get a scatter shield just incase. And hell if you do blow it up they're really cheap to get anotherone. Or you can just get a race c6 for about 2200.

I put a c6 in my 01 gt it is about 3 inches longer than my aod but the mounts line up ,and the shifter cables matched eaven my spedo cable worked. the only thing was the yoke off of my stock drive line would not fit so i took the one from the 3/4 ton truck and had it cut .it helped in low gear alot but third is not worth a s--t at highway speeds but with 456 gears the aod wasn't much better. but what the hell my local track is only 300 feet.
