A/C question
can someone tell me how to properly fill my ac system . It blows out strong and it comes out cool just not ice cold . Does the referigerant just leak out over the years or can i have just a very small leak ? I have a 93 so its r 12 so i was gonna pick up a can of that freeze 12 . Just trying to figure out how do i know when its full and if its possible to over fill it or does it just know when its full and stop taking from the can ?

RE: A/C question
To to it properly, you need a set of a/c gauges. If you're not sure what you're doing (which it sounds like) a mistake could be costly. The pressures need to be a certain level for the system to operate correctly.

RE: A/C question
Yeah but also, the outside temp and humidity comes into play as well. The low side is gonna be anywhere from 30-40psi depending on the conditions I listed above. The high side is gonna be much broader. Say 150-250.
Hook up the gauges
put a thermometer in the center vents
turn the system on max w/ the fan on high
slowly open the LOW side gauge to let the freon flow. Make sure the high side is and stays closed!!
now watch for the suggested pressures and the temp in the car. You should be able to see 40 degrees at the vent again depending on how the outside air is. Give the system a few minutes to stabilize before adding more freon.
Freeze 12 is a good substitue. I been using it for years. Just bought a case of it off e-bay as a matter of fact.
