I hit a bad pot hole yesterday and I have been trying to figure out what is causeing the clunking noise that i keep hearing, I took the wheels off and put it in drive to see if the clunking is still there and it is..... so what could it be? it seems to be comming from the axle but is it possible for the axle to break from hitting a pot hole?? I'm so confused.

Can you take out the axles without taking apart the rear end?

jack the front up see if the wheel have any play. you mighta broken your tierod. do it before oyu go driving, it breaks you will probably lose the car

It is not possible to take an axle out of a 8.8 without taking at least the back cover off the rear and remove the c clip. Before you do that you might want to atleast check out your driveshaft because you might have a bad u joint. Did the car vibrate after you hit the pot hole?

No It did not vibrate, it was just clunking and at high speeds it feels normal, but at like 20mph it clunks bad. The driveshaft is one week old.

jack it up and do a visual inspection see where it hit and take it from there.

it's on jack stands right now, i have the wheels off, drums off, I can't seem to find anything wrong.

sounds like you may of blown your rear shock or something, look real good

just to clarify....do you have it on jackstands with the tires and drums off and then your putting it in drive or something like that? or is it just while your driving that you hear the sound?

I hear it when i drive it.
So i put it on jack stands, with the wheels off and drums off, and put it in drive and I still hear the sound, it seems to be comming from (whatever you call it) that the axle slides into.... but i really can't tell for sure.
