WHAT IS NEEDED TO RUN 9 SEC?

RE: WHAT IS NEEDED TO RUN 9 SEC?
You can do it with a 351w. The engine is the easy part though, all the other stuff is what runs the $$$ up.
Parachute, certified cage and chassis and all the other odds and ends really add up. Fire suit, window net, c-clip elims if you run the 8.8 etc.

this would be the easiest engine wise, but the mods to make the 460 work will be expensive. I have seen however a couple 351w's stroked to a 392 or smaller hitting 9's and had more in em. a nice set of heads like trick flow R's or canfields, and a huge solid roller cam and a tunnel ram intake will get u there. with a lot of suspension however.

A good friend is close if not in the 9s with a pump gas 408. His car is light, about 2800-2900 with driver. It is not gutted but everywhere he could take something out he did without making it look like a gutted racecar. He bought the engine used from Coast High. It has 10.5:1 compression, AFR 225 heads, big solid roller, super victor Edelbrock intake, and a 1050 AED dominator. He has never run it in the quarter but his eigth mile times are 6.39 @ 105. Everything on the car is first class. That should be real close to a N/A car on pump gas.
