Door bars could be removable by the NHRA standards but the cross bar MUST be welded to the main hoop.
No, a 'hidden roll bar would not meet the NHRA standards because the inspector ( I used to be one ) couldn't see it to inspect it.

I used to see roll bars/cages made of plastic pipe, exhaust tubing etc. Don't worry, most are found if not the first time car is in tech, it'll be found the second time.
We even found plastic driveline hoop one time, still makes me LOL.
