This is where I'm lucky. I've sold a few cars to people and of course they want to test drive them. But when they get there, I make damn sure i get their info. I make note of the license plate, etc. Then I get their name as well.

The last two times I made a comment about having to leave for work shortly, all while I have a Glock strapped to one side of me, and my handcuff / magazine / ammo holder on the other side (with a badge around the neck.) Usually, if someone is going to pull something like that, I imagine the badge and gun make them think twice. And if they are stupid enough to still try it, I have all their info.

There is no doubt some people have huge nuts.... I would imagine that this guy thought this through and the car is probably long gone.... that sucks.

Your dad, needs to have that phone call traced by the phone company, even if private they will tell you where it came from and one thing should lead to another.

Get a good thought of how the guy looked age and all, and be ready to look at alot of pictures with the detectives.
