Default 347 vs 408

OK, i am going to do a 347 or a 408. How much more work is there in doing a 408? Its going to be EFI still. Do i have to change anything around?

a 408 will only require a 351 efi intake, oil pan and pick up, and crank pulley spacer part# m-8510-b351 from ford racing. and of course the oil pump is differant also and so is the pump drive.

No motor mount changes...the difference between the 351 and 302 blocks is the deck height, among other things too, like the oil pan, etc..

you are gone to need headers also a distributor to fit a 351. the front mount bracket for the power steering and alt.you will also need a new fly wheel or flex plate if you run a auto and a new damper if the motor dont come with one cuz. the balance for a 351 is 28oz and the 5.0 HO is 50oz.

yes ..the 351 is a small block..and it will fit the aod as the bell housing is for a small block..but in my oppinion ..the 347 is a better swap...easyer to do with out having to dig up all the other parts to kae it fit..the 347 will drop right in...not parts finding..

Well is it worth it? how big of a HP difference between 347 and 408 if you build motors pretty much identicle?

there is a major HP difference, but at a price. you will have quite a task to drop a 408 in a 5.0. ask NOSMAN, it aint easy.

its not like you cant make crazy power with a 347, why do you want a 408?
