Default harmonic balancer bolt=PITA!!

I have the engine on the stand, and trying to get the bolt out of the crank to get the HB off, and the thing will NOT move! Tried the impact, it weaked out, tryed a massive cheater bar, the whole stand wants to roll over. Ive soaked the bolt in PB blaster, still no movement. Anyone got any tips? Heat is out of the question unless its a little torch, no oxy/acetelyne available.

you can rent a powerfull impact or torch from the local tool rental.

Or, take the engine off the stand, so it has no where to go

put the pole and socket on the bolt and against the frame on driver side, bump the starter, and walla the bolt is now loose.

A impact gun will not loosen the bolt if its cross threaded, or have excessive threadlocker or red threadlocker on it.
Reading owns you!! He has the engine on a stand!!

Oh and, that bolt is too large in diameter to get all the way in crossthreaded. Nice try though[&:]

I guess the impact I have isnt strong enough? its just a harbor freight special. Would a more powerful impact provide more torque than myself and a cheater bar? And would it cause any damage to put the motor in and bump the atarter like AODE said?

you can also put a long pole on the end of the rachet and smack the end of the pole with a hammer and it will come loose

Yes, it would but it also depends on how much air pressure you're running

im assuming by cheater bar you mean breaker bar?

i got it off (after i stupidly took the heads off X( ) by using a breaker barwith a bolt through the flywheel onto the block to keep it still w/ no heads, and it didnt want to roll, because of the lack of heads
