A buddy of mine has come into some money and he loves fox body mustangs. I myself own an 01 gt and I have limited knowledge on the 5.0 fox bodies. He wants one to make into a strictly drag strip project. I was wondering if certain model years were better then others and why when it comes to making a drag racing project. Also I was wondering if you could tell me some of the weaknesses the fox bodies have that should be addressed in order to make sure nothing blows up.

tell him to look for a notch, they are a little more expensive usually, but they make for a lighter stronger car, as far as weaknesses, the rearend needs to be beefed up, the tranny should be rebuilt(with lentech) and the engine can only support around 470hp so you should probably tell him to get an aftormarket block, or go with a stock 351w swap (can support around 700hp) weld up the boxes/reinforce were the control arm conects to the body (weak and can tear). the cooling system is another big weakness, and the rear and front breaks should definatly be changed out so he can stop (aka he better of gotten a @$$ load of money if he wants to do it right)

go with 351 and stroke it
