Default got my kd tool, leak down test questions

ok i seem to have issues after my headgasket replacement, steam and stuff, dont seem to be losing coolant, but horrible gas milage, excess steam. i replaced the act and ect sensors too. exaust smells like gas too. im going to hook my big compressor up to the kd tool and pressurize each cylinder and look for leaks in the radiatior as air bubbles, is this the best way to do a leak down test? what if my rings are bad from my lovely port job?

if the rings are bad listen from the oil fil you should be able to hear the air hiss into the crank case

yeah im going to look for one today. the reason i ended up with the KD tool is a reg comp tester fitting is too short to thread into the plug holes on a e6 head.
but yeah i need to know comp. i understand the differance, comp is what the motor makes

exactly how am i supposed to do this test, i had to bump the starter several time till i found a spot where it doesnt hiss out the exaust ot intake, see no bubbles in the radiator its been 10 mins. i have it on the back drivers cylinder right now. the plugs are all out on this side. all the plugs have a redish tint to them, some more than others. is that normal?

Well at least I admitted I did not know how to do the test. Yeah, 5.7 mpg does suck badly, and I thought 15mpg was bad.

sounds like you got blow by. here is something for you to try get a compression test and test that cylender write the number down you get then squirt some oil into the cylender from the spark plug hole run the test agian if you get a better reading that means the oil sealed the rings and you got bad rings
