Power to manual question:

Power to manual question:
Has anyone converted from power windows/locks to manual windows/locks? Im thinking about doing so.. The power locks died the other day, I need to replace the driverside window and motor, and the passenger side is getting real slow.... would rather just convert and never have to worry about it again.
What all is needed? Does the inside panel of the door need to be swapped to one without power options or can you keep the same interior pieces?
Also... anyone have a guess on how much a replacement windshield/install is? Still havent fixed that yet.. lol

RE: Power to manual question:
you'll need manual regulators and have to cut a hole in the panel for where the window crank will go as for the locks the same will be needed all manual stuff..I'd just search junk yards for a manual set up looking for earlier 80's stangs as they are more likely to have the manual stuff needed

I am guessing your asking about this for your 90? For 87 - 93 the manual door panels and arm rest are different than power window cars, it is more than just a hole for the hand crank.
Top is manual windows, bottom power from same year car. Notice the difference in length.
Side view.
Back side, notice the locations of the metal t - shaped tabs that help align them in the door panel.
Non-power door panel on top, power door panel on bottom. Notice the difference in the cut out for the arm rest.
Just for additional comparison to show how bad they don't line up, power arm rest on non-power panel and vica versa.
For the locks all you have to do is remove the actuators and the rod that connects them to the key cylinder, the rest is the same as a non power door lock. BTW in the pictures you notice I had power locks on the non power arm rest. That is because I added those my self.
Hope this helps.

RE: Power to manual question:
Yeah you need new door panels. I love my power windows though. I had manual windows before this car and I hate using my a/c so it was always a paint to lean over to roll the passenger window down. It also sucked when I was on the highway and it was down and started to rain. Rolling it back up is kind of tricky.
