Thats possible too, but I think if he had a bad or dirty injector the motor would be missing or cutting out on acceleration.

It sounds like a fuel system problem but I dont think it is in the injectors. My first guess was the fuel filter. Ive seen them get so dirty that the vehicle would not accelerate at all and would barely run 45 tops. you could also put an amp meter or amp clamp over the hot wire going to the fuel pump and start the car. the amps should stay steady. If they fluctuate or are high your pump could very very likely be going out.
