Default Popping and heavy hesitation...

Got off the highway, car died. Started but had to keep rev up to keep running so I got back onto the highway to go back home. Ran for 30 minutes at 75 mph (1900 rpm) but would hesitate when under load and "pop". Sounds like I'm running only 6 or 7 cylinders. Check ompresssion (145-150 all the way around) replaced plugs with Autolite 25 gaped .052-.056 and cap, rotor and FMS 9mm plugs. Still barelydrivable with popping and same heavy hesitation. How to I testif the injectors are workingas seems to be my next hunch. I still really sound like I'm still running on 6 or 7 cylinders. The car ran flawless beforeincluding 300+ miles this weekend. Any help is great!!

89 LX Convert. 5.0 5-speed

Thank in advance.

check tune up parts like cap rotor and or coil and lightly mist the wires with water looking for spark arcing out any one wire.

anyway it sounds to me like you have a timing issue during a load, highway esp would cause issues with the TFI module and/or PIP

I had one do that and it turned out to be in the distributer pick up. pop the cap and see if it's loose in there

Yes I read just fine........ In fact I had one come in friday that the kid had just did all that stuff to and it still ran like crap and he had had it at the local lube center and they couldn't figure it out.......NEVER and I repeat never assume just because new parts are on the car that all is well.....if that were the case I'd of been just like the lube center and missed the obvious cause I would of ruled out that part cause the guy said he just replaced it......turns out there was a small pin hole in a I repeat brand new set of performance wires and it was shooting spark to ground......so it doesn't hurt to check new stuff also make sure you check the coil as mentioned above a bad or cracked in the coil can cause all sorts of ignition probs
