Default Can a fan cause A LOT of vibrations?

There's a lot of shaking in the front end of my car (91 GT). I thought it was the engine mounts so I changed those, but that didn't stop the shaking. I had a mechanic look at it and he says it's the stock fan and clutch that's causing the shaking. Does this sound right? Can a little plastic fan cause the entire front end off the car shake like it's about to fall to pieces?

Besides the Harmonic Balancer (I'm not ready to change that yet!) what else could cause this much shaking!? I almost HATE driving the car because it shakes so much! [:@]

I had the same problem on my truck awhile back. The stock clutch was shot and the fan basically acted like it was attached directly to the pully. It had some vibration but it wasn't so bad that Ineeded to fix it right away. Once I got a new water pump I put a new fan clutch on and it went away.

You could try and take the fan off and just start it up and rev it to see if it shakes. justdont run it long w/o the fan

Yeah, this is what I was thinking of doing. Rip that "warped" fan off and see how it runs.
