its not hard, but if you havent done it, its going to take a little time.. like mrj was saying, having a lift makes it easy as hell... ive done plenty of them at work on lifts, and its very convenient... but not needed at all... ive had my trans in and out for numerous things idk how many times, and every time with my car its been on the ground...

basically what your going to do is

remove exhaust(2 nuts on each side for the header-mid pipe connection, and 2 on each side to get the mid pipe off the cat back)
remove driveshaft-4 bolts holding it to the rear
cross member...1 nut/bolt deal on each side, 2 on the trans mount
support the trans w. a jack before taking the cross member out
4 trans bolts, speedo gear, and a few electrical things, and yes the shifter
trans slides back and drops out
6 bell housing bolts, and the 2 starter bolts
6 clutch pressure plate bolts
6 flywheel bolts
and now your looking right at it...

that is assuming its a 5 speed

give yourself a day to do it... impact gun makes life easy, but isnt needed
