Default 306 ?s

hey guys..ive looked around a little on the search part but i still have a couple questions to clarify things. Ok well my 302 has 110K miles on it...next late spring early summer i want to put a vortech v2 on it. My question is that this winter i want to freshen things up just to make sure the blower goes fine. I searched some n i want to do a 306. So..basically i want to know everything involved. I would have to get the block bored correct? and then somewhere like summit or jegs sells the 306 kit that comes with new rings and bearings and all the gaskets seals right? i realize most people while the engine was apart would put new heads on it or just do a hci swap..but im doin this so that when i put the blower on i dont have to worry about durability problems..im not plannin on running much boost..7 probably maybe 8 lbs but nothin that i would need to forge the bottom end. So if anyone can help me out here id appreciate it a lot..thanks

Eagle crank, Scat rods, Probe pistons (.030 over) ARP fasteners and you have yourself a bulletproof bottom end ,ergo, more boost.

Safe in what regards? Used dished pistons and you won't have to worry too much about detonation on pump gas, especially with intercooling. But can the rest of your drivetrain handle it?

you can run 6lbs safely on a cast setup, stock stuff can work around 10lbs so a aftermarket would hold atleast the same. go to a local shop and get them to order a kit or contact FullAuto and he'll hook ya up. if you only want to run 6-8lbs, get a forged setup, its not much more, couple hundred $, and its worth it. get about 9:1CR and boost and get a 331 stroker kit. i would so go 347 but boosting that is pushing the very limits of the stock block. a 331 and 8lbs along w/ H/C/I would push 450rwhp very easy.

safe as in i want to be able to run 93 pump...stock block...and be able to drive somewhat daily..not like daily cuz i have a truck for that...its just a fun toy and weekend runner...wouldnt see the track often...im a freshmen in college n so the budget is not tiny..but its not huge either...what i was planin was buildin the block this winter while its parked...then after i start workin full time again next spring when school gets out but the blower...just outta curiosity....for that time before i get the blower....if i run just a 306 with what i have now...will i feel any difference in power..or will it just be like normal till the blower goes on?

try just doingyour 306 h/c/i for now with the forge parts. i can pretty much guarantee you love the performance gains. then if you want to get a blower your car will already be setup. do it in steps. you'll kick plenty a$$ with that 306.trust me!!!!

a good h/c/i and a stroker would be cheaper than a rebuild and supercharger... and will make just as much power.

and itll burn less gas
