Default Heat ?

I have an 86 GTwith 45,000 original miles

When I turn the heat on, place theswitch on vent I have way more air comming out of the driverside dash vents then the passengerside vents.IfI move the switch to defrost and feel the defrost vents the the same applies. The air is constant and there are no noise. WHY ?

1986 car with 46k on it, my first bet would be mouse nest in the vent crossover...

whatever it is, you gotta pull the dash to fix it, so get out there and get at it

you've got a blockage or restriction somewhere in the vent......on the 85/86's you can cheat the blower motor assembly down and remove it after removing the glove box and then you can look up under the dasd and access some of the necessary vents.......I removed my heater core in less then 45 min from my 85 this way as the heater boxes in the 85/86 are a different set up then the 87-93 dashes...trust me I know..just last week I did the heater core in my 92 ..I wish it had of been my 85 that went bad cause I know how easy that one is.........

I drove the car the other day and when I turned the heat off I heard a kind of puring type noise like the air is rattling through you know one of the doors in the heater vent inside the dash. I think maybe that ther is a door that id not open all the way. Can I stick a coat hanger or something in there to try to push open what ever is in there?
I'm pretty sure no mouse this car is kept mint. I love the thing I can't tell you the last time I saw a gt this nice.

the book says about 8 and if you've never done one then it may take you that long but I've done them so many times.....it usually takes me right around 1 hr working quick to remove one and about 2 more to reinstall taking my time so in about 3 hrs time I can have one done......but don't expect a shop to cut you that kind of slack.....in that case the win goes to the tech and he gets the extra flat rate hours for being quick.....the customer doesn't get the break there!!!
