Mustang30240 advice is not what Ford offical 5.0 Handbook advises to do. They say that this will disturb air flow.Theyalso state that removing the bump in the exhaust port and more because the exhaust port is restricted by its small diameter.

I am right now doing my E7 and you could not aford to pay to have this done . I am up to 23 hours and got one more exhaust port to go . the intake side is the easy one not mutch to cut thare unless you have surgen like pricison to reshape the runner ( not a good idea) the exhaust is ground up a lot and you can see a big diffrence . and I took the exhaust valve gide boss up to the roof the intake valve gide boss can not do that do . olny 1/2 way up

After i get done grinding I think it will be close to chirstmas they are getting stufed with 1.94 1.60 valves with a 5 angle valve job . and deck .050 for a compersion ratio of 9.5 or 10 I havent pick out a set of slugs yet

Go for it . it's a better fealing to make 50 HP than it is to buy 50 HP dont be afraid if your donnar heads go all the way on your first try what did you lose $20.00 at the junk yard

B/W
Thease are SBF heads not SBC it is very hard to hit water in the e7 they have a lot of meat in them

This is very true ford heads are thicker by design.

O and speaking of chevy heads never try to port your stock corvette aluminum heads. It's quite embarrasing.

i say go for it urself. you will save some money, learn a ton, and say that you did it. it isnt that hard to do. ive done it before. its a piece of cake. but it does get very tiring and takes a while to do.

i started on some chevy heads when i had my 88 z28, but you have to have a extreme amount of patience to do this cause it takes for ever, but it will be a good experience, go for it
