I cant really see the casting well but In the lifter valley it has 80 and over both lifter bores it says XXX. on the back pass side bottom it is hard to read with a crappy casting but it looks like DOAE and under that it looks like DEC. any thoughts??

I know that is where the code is but the casting is really crappy and you cant read it clearly at all. i was told by the machinist that it is definitely a flat tappet block though

It will be a flat tappet cam for that year. Have the machinist check the bore. 3.68" for the 255 is stock. If it's 4" then it is a 302.
