Why is this 5.0 so much slower now?
My buddies car has been sitting up for several months because he wrecked it. He just got it running again but it is running much slower. Starting at about 3500 rpms his car struggles to get up to 5000 wich is where he shifts. And sometimes back fires when he changes gears. My guess is that the fuel filter is clogged for sitting up so long. What do yall think? It's a 94 gt.

Get the gas out of it and run a fresh tank of fuel in it...nowdays the gas doesn't take well to sitting very long and cars that sit for extended periods of time have come into our shop with driveability issues and a fresh tank of fuel has cured it....we have one customer in particular that never drives their mercedes and often has this issue as it'll sit for 3-5 month sometimes not driven

i woudl say a tune up souldn't hurt. Filters, plugs, check timing. When my distributor stated to gobad it drove like crap. But if the car was fine before it sat i would look more towards fuel and maintanece items

deff check all your ignition stuff.............it sat so moisture/elements ate at your coil/cap rotor ect...get a bottle of heat and put in your tank likely the fuel broke down it takes about 3 months to "water" up.

Drain the fuel tank and add new fuel especially if you need higher octane fuel from mods. Don't take long at all for fuel to get funky, especially if the fuel level was low in the tank. It tends to draw moisture much quicker and break down if the tank is not full
