You could wipe them off and run some fuel system cleaner through when you get the engine back together. Injectors really shouldn't go bad...

i dunno what kinda fuel system cleaner u guys use, but we use Wynn's here at my dealership, and i SWEAR that **** ruins injectors. there have been bulletins out saying this, so just watch out with what kinda fuel system service u do, and i wouldn't do it every 3k miles. just my thoughts...

i would spray them with some carb cleaner, and like stated above, be very carful not to mess up the o-rings or your injectors will leak, you may lightly coat the orings with some type of oil or lubricant so that they slide in easy and that way you shouldnt mess anything up. Just be careful ! Also be carful when dealing with the hoses that run from that intake tube to the heater core, if you get rough with them you might mess up your heater core (my friend busted my heater core trying to force the hoses on) and that sucks, trust me.

Windex spray bottle filled with laquer thinner. It doesn't really mess with the rubber O-rings unless you let it sit for a long time and then it will swell them. What I do it use a tooth brush and spray the laquer thinner on the outside and scrub it. Then spray down the injector itself, you will be amazed at how much crap comes out. I keep spraying until it runs clear, it cleans all the varnish and gunk built up right off. Let them sit for a little while in the sun to dry off and re-install them. They look brand new after this, just be careful on the outter housing if you don't want the paint to come right off, wipe them instead of spraying them.
And if your intake is nasty, use some easy off oven cleaner on it. It will take all of the sludge and pretty much anything else you have built up on the manifold off. Make sure you remove all your sensors though, it is a low grade acid. I will let it sit on the underside of the manifold over night, come out the next day and hose it off, it looks brand new. We used it all the time when I worked at the transmission shop so it won't hurt the aluminum at all.
