Mechanical vs Electric

RE: Mechanical vs Electric
I've been using electric fuel pumps for 30+ and have yet to have one 'fail'.
I've replaced several that I just plain wore out.
I'd rather take the power that running a mechanical pump takes and use it toward the drive wheels.........

RE: Mechanical vs Electric
It takes horsepower to run an electric pump as well, the electricity has to come from the alternator, and more electrical load means more loadfrom the alternator. I'm rather curious as to how much hp it would take from the engine to run a good mech and a good electric pump, but it's not the sorta test you see the magazines doing. As long as it's a good pump(mech or electric) and it gets the job done, doesn't really matter all that much

RE: Mechanical vs Electric
Old-School here too..... but my vote is for electric, one less mechanically driven part to worry about + you can set pressure and adjust bowl levels w/out turning on the engine..... .... have been using the same e-pump for 15 yrs...... no failures (knock on wood).
