i thought glowing headers indicated a lean issue
In issues of timing where a header is glowing red this is why such occurs.....because the timing is retarded the cumbustion process starts late and finishes late and when the exhaust valve opens the cumbustion process is still taking place therefore the flame is blown out into the exhaust and heats it up to extreme temps and causes the header to glow red!!! run to long this way will burn an exhaust valve!!!! danger danger.......to correct this problem you advance the ignition timing and therefore start the combustion process so it is finished before the exhaust valve opens otherwise damage will occur...hence if ignition is incorrect and does not occur when it's suppose to where it's suppose to it'll cause such problems.......excessive lean fuel mixture can cause the same but I doubt that is occurring in your fuel injected car unless maf is bad and or injectors are plugged and if it wasn't that way before the h/c/i swap you can rule that out anyway I hope I was simple enough in my explanation of ignition timing as to not get anyone technically confused by using big words

I used to have a header leak from loose header bolts that caused a ticking and I just had to tighten the bolts and it went away.
Now Ive got a tick coming from a few of the lifters when the motor is warmed up.
